Salesforce Admin: Spring '22 release updates

Security updates in the Salesforce Spring ‘22 release

Security has been a hot topic in recent months, thanks to several prominent tech organisations like Google announcing plans to increase funding for it following a White House summit on cyber security.

It’s not surprising then that Salesforce is stepping up its game with the Salesforce Spring ’22 release. Salesforce will be implementing a few security updates to improve how we all conduct our business online.

Prepare for Multi-Factor Authentication

From 1st February, you will be required to use multi-factor authentication (MFA), when using Salesforce products. Find out how to set up MFA in a jiffy here.

More protection for personal information

To prevent portal or community users from viewing other people’s personal information, you can enable Enhanced Personal Information Management. This function will replace the Hide Personal Information setting and will secure more personal identifiable information (PII) user record fields. You can also change the PII data in custom and standard user fields.
To enable more protection for personal information:

  1. Go to Setup,
  2. In the Quick Find box, enter User Management Settings
  3. Select User Management Settings.
  4. If Hide Personal Information is enabled, deselect it. Enable Enhanced Personal Information Management.

Better management of permissions

It’s simpler to search for and filter users when assigning permission sets and permission set groups. With the Salesforce Spring ’22 release, you can manage expiration dates for those permissions.

  1. From User Management Settings, enable Permission Set Group Assignments with Expiration Dates (beta).
  2. Go to the Permission Set Group or Permission Set page, and click Manage Assignment Expiration.
  3. On the Current Assignments page, you can view permission set or permission set group users. To create a user assignment, click Add Assignment. On the Add Assignment page, you can search for and filter users.

Salesforce Reporting: Spring '22 release updates

Reporting updates in the Salesforce Spring '22 release

Reporting with Salesforce has evolved considerably over the years. And this spring, Salesforce hasn’t failed to deliver. There are a few changes to reporting, that will help you to access information more easily and efficiently.

Experience easier access to reporting

With the enhanced report type selector, you can find recently used report types fast, and see the fields and objects that are included. With the new Salesforce Spring ’22 release, you can view which report types are standard or custom, and ensure that the number of available report types are manageable by hiding the ones that you don’t need. If you want to access recently created reports, then you can check the list view.

To enable this you can:

  1. Go to Setup.
  2. In the Quick Find box, enter Reports and Dashboards.
  3. Select Reports and Dashboards Settings.
  4. Select Enable Recommended Report Types (Lightning Experience only)
  5. Save the changes.

Benefit from inline editing in reports

The Salesforce Spring ’22 release brings to life more inline editing. By doing so, you may make changes in a report without rerunning reports. Fields now come with a pencil icon to show that you can edit it. If fields are not editable, then it will show a lock icon.
